THE GAME OF BUSINESS

What is it - Designed to enable your staff to understand that a business is an interdependent mix of different activities. These all interact to produce the business result - which we usually present as a set of financials.

What you get out of it - "The Game of Business" is a practical learning exercise which, in one day:

  • demonstrates in a practical way the holistic nature of any business - and how decision-making affects marketing, operations, production, information and, of course, finance.
  • ensures that the learning is experiential and participative using small teams running their own business. Each team member is actively involved in this visual, tactile game.
  • uses a competitive approach, and makes sure that successes and failures result in positive learning.
  • shows clearly the link between financial numbers and the physical reality of people, products and processes.
  • builds skills in numeracy and business vocabulary.
  • ensures people work in teams, under time pressure, and make decisions which have a real impact on their business - and it's fun!

Ideal Location - Any where indoors with room for all participants to be seated at tables

Ideal numbers - Min 8, Max 25

Duration - Full 8 hour day

More Info - "The Game of Business" is a highly practical way to teach your staff about their individual contributions to business success. One day invested in the game will have a very positive impact on your business. The game is facilitated by our experienced trainer - Eric Ebel. There is a minimum of 8 people and a maximum of 25 - ideally we work in teams of 3 people, each team 'running' their own business for one day. The day is spent in 'live' competition - buying, bidding, selling and operating, and, of course, reporting. There are a number of decision points during the day - the outcome of these decisions is translated into financial results for each period. Eric's role is to drive the programme and to feedback and debrief at each stage. At the end of the day all participants will have an understanding of how the organisations major functions are inextricably linked with each other.
